Overall a fascinating time and area.
Two places I visited, first being in Kerala home of the Theyyams. This is a very interesting ritual form of worship. It requires a lot of dedication and strength as many of them have very large and heavy decoration on the head. Next to that the performance looks to have a very specific choreography with changes of speed and directions. Also as preparation they have a strict schema of living for 40 days if I remember correctly.
We visited several of them late night early morning. There is a wide variety of gods that are depicted and some of them are really going through fire, this are that ones that need a dark environment and that means the small hours of the day.
Next to the performance there is another role that they have during their presence. They are blessing the people and tell about the coming time, this goes with a lot of dedication and strong believe by the people.
Overall impressive experience to see the creation (taking hours to put decoration in place) and the performance of the different Theyyams.
After this I had some days of rest as I had booked a stay at Fringe Ford, which is a place up the hills with no connection to internet or phone. This makes it a perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, enjoy good food and some small treks to burn the food. A small set of photos this time.
